As you may know, I adore hummingbirds. They’re absolutely magical! Speaking of magic, the mammoth sunflowers I seeded this spring have bloomed atop massive stalks—some as high at 12 feet! Because like attracts like, I wasn’t surprised at all to see one of our resident hummingbirds hanging out by the sunflowers yesterday afternoon. I was even lucky enough to capture the moment on video.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Happy Friday, and have a magical weekend ✨
Awesome video! I don’t see hummingbirds very often here, so it’s extra exciting when I do see them. They’re amazing birds.
I’m happy to share them with you! I was pretty surprised to see them in Maine.
You live around Vancouver, right? I never saw hummingbirds when I lived in the northwest US. I’m sure the fact that I live amongst hundreds of acres of protected forests and wetlands has something to do with their strong presence here…
Yeah, I’m in Vancouver. There used to be a tree in my building’s courtyard that hummmingbirds quite liked, but then the tree got sick and had to be cute down, and the hummingbirds don’t seem to be very interested in the remaining greenery.
I wonder if the building owner would consider planting sunflowers?
Now there’s a good idea!
